Global Engineering Solutions Provider Expanding Columbus Headquarters

COLUMBUS, Ind., May 20, 2019 – LHP Engineering Solutions (LHPES), a global engineering services provider and technology integrator, announced plans today to expand its operations in Bartholomew County, creating up to 135 new jobs by 2023.

"Indiana continues to take center stage as a hub for innovation with global companies like LHPES developing new solutions to solve 21st-century challenges right here in our state," said Governor Eric J. Holcomb. "In partnership with Ivy Tech and the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs, LHPES is growing our workforce by providing hands-on training in the automotive industry to veterans. We applaud LHPES for its focus and dedication to offering life-changing opportunities for not only its employees, but also for our veterans.”

The Columbus-based company, which provides engineering services and technology integration for embedded controls, telematics, data analytics, and model-based design for the automotive, aerospace, and medical industries, will invest more than one million dollars to grow its headquarters at 1888 Poshard Dr., making building and office improvements and significant hardware and software investments.

LHPES, which employs 190 associates at its Columbus location and 478 worldwide, is hiring engineers in electrical, mechanical, computer science, quality, functional safety, and controls, as well as related fields in transportation software. “We’re excited about LHP’s growth potential and the opportunity to participate in a technology revolution that is going on within the transportation industry," said Dave Glass, CEO of LHPES. "We are very fortunate to be headquartered in such a business-friendly environment as the state of Indiana and the city of Columbus. With all the investments being made in advanced manufacturing and automotive technologies, we have plenty of confidence that we can continue to grow right here, at home."

Founded in 2001 by Dave Glass and Ryan Hou, LHPES provides engineering services and technology integration for embedded controls, telematics, data analytics, and model-based design. The company, a Minority Business Enterprise, has expanded into locations in California, Michigan, Texas, China, Italy, and Mexico. Originally serving the automotive industry, the company has translated its expertise across a wide range of industries, including medical devices, power generation, aerospace, and the broader transportation industry.

Last fall, LHPU, the training division of LHPES, and Ivy Tech Community College, Indiana's largest public, postsecondary institution, announced a partnership with the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs. This partnership will help U.S. veterans gain hands-on training and career development in the automotive industry. LHPU's mission is to grow the worldwide talent pool of highly-qualified controls engineers. Since its inception in 2011, LHPU and Ivy Tech have helped bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace by delivering boot camp training to more than 600 students and engineering professionals.

“LHPES is a home-grown, globally-engaged success story, and we are certainly proud to support the growth of their headquarters and engineering operations in Columbus,” said Columbus Mayor Jim Lienhoop.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered LHP Engineering Solutions up to $1.6m in conditional tax credits based on the company's job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning that the company is not eligible to claim the incentives until Hoosiers are hired. The city of Columbus supports the project at the request of the Greater Columbus Economic Development Corporation.
